History Of The Stud

Warleigh Stud was founded in 1988. Our first mares included Alwen Spring Whisper, Warehorne Lorna, Lydstep Loretta and Pendley Colour Glow. We were fortunate enough to lease Pitchwood Impresario (Wingrove Minkino ex Tetworth Soubrette) as the stud stallion.

The foals by Impresario included W. Serenade, Sonnet, Serenity, Silent Whisper and Star Glow.

In 1989 we purchased Velmead Wood Pigeon and her colt foal at foot Ambershire Finishing Touch. Wood Pigeon was sent back to Camargue Tribute and produced Warleigh Cygnet. She had several more superb foals including W. Nightjar (Spinningdale Grandeur), Wishful Thinking (Tribute), and Wildest Dreams (Tribute).

Finishing Touch became the stud's stallion and from his first crop of foals produced W. Classic Touch (ex Lennel Whispering Grass). Classic Touch qualified for HOYS as a 133cm SHP. Further foals produced from this cross included W. Small Talk, Tittle-Tattle, Hot Gossip and Majestic Touch. Finishing Touch produced many top class ponies from other mares including W. Loyal Touch (ex Lydstep Loretta), W. Lacroix and Ethereal Glow (both out of Pendley Colour Glow).

Over the past 19 years we have bred some wonderful ponies who not only excel in the show ring, but also in the dressage arena, show jumping and cross country. We have also produced some lovely ponies, including Spinningdale Arabella (Creber Qualifier), Araminta, Grandeur, Watercolour, Miranda and Birthday Parade.

In 2002 the prefix was divided between the family. My parents now have Warleigh (RT), my brother has (SL) after it and mine has (Z).

This site is mainly about the ponies bred under the Warleigh (Z) prefix.
